The program educates and trains undergraduate and graduate students in the core competencies of public health, including biostatistics, epidemiology, health promotion, health communication, environmental health, and health policy.
Experiential learning opportunities and on-site training are critical components of the program, allowing students to observe and experience public health in action. Established in 2012, the Department of Public Health is the first of its kind in Qatar, offering both Bachelor's (B.Sc.) and Master's (MPH) degrees. The public health degree is interdisciplinary, preparing students in the design, implementation, and evaluation of curative and preventive health services and programs from a population perspective. Using a public health approach, students learn to deploy sound scientific evidence to define a health-related problem, establish its cause, design intervention, and evaluate its effectiveness. This role is in alignment with the 2030 Qatar vision.
A career in public health is a rewarding path to helping individuals and populations live their healthiest lives. The program is available for females.
