BSc Human Nutrition (Hons)

The University of Greenwich is a leading institution for studying nutrition and our human nutrition programme is one of a select group of nutrition degrees accredited by the UK Association for Nutrition. The programme investigates the relationship between nutrition and health, and how good health can be promoted by following a healthful diet. In addition, the programme focuses on the effects of food and specific nutrients on physiology and metabolism and the incidence of disease.

We are committed to understanding and evaluating the socio-economic determinants and behavioral basis of nutrition-related issues so as to promote improved diet and health for all members of society. At our south-east London campus in Kent, you will study the science of nutrition along with other students in diverse science-related fields such as biomedical, biological and sports science. Our teaching staff is highly qualified having received degrees or conducted research here at Greenwich and in institutions such as King’s College London, University of Cambridge, University College London and the University of Surrey. Our courses support online learning as well as part-time and overseas study.


This programme offers great links with employers, so you gain the skills and knowledge required by the industry while increasing your employability prospects.

The aims of the programme are:

  • To give you a multidisciplinary scientific understanding of human nutrition and its relation to health and disease
  • To equip you with knowledge and skills that will enhance your employment and career opportunities
  • To provide you with the necessary academic qualifications for further study in fields such graduate dietetics
  • To build your understanding and skills so you can improve the health and welfare of individuals, groups, and populations in a safe and ethical manner
