Introduction
The School of Nursing is a vital component of Riverside City College (RCC) and embraces the mission, values, and traditions of both the RCC District and the College. The School of Nursing prepares quality nursing healthcare providers using a student-centered approach through teaching excellence in an environment conducive to learning. The Vocational Nursing (VN) program prepares individuals to provide general nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse, physician, or dentist, including the collaboration with other professionals and consumers in delivering holistic healthcare.
ADN (RN) Student Achievement Data
The Registered Nursing NCLEX-PN pass rates and program completion data are reported in VN Program Student Achievement Data.
Program Outcome 1: The program demonstrates evidence of graduates’ achievement on the licensure examination.
Expected Level of Achievement: NCLEX-PN pass rates will be at least 80% for all first-time test-takers during the same 12-month period.

Students interested in the Vocational Nursing program have two different academic pathways(Certificate, Associate Degree) available depending on the eligibility of the applicant.
Selection Procedure
Selection for the VN program is decided by a random selection of qualified applicants. RCC reserves the right to designate a certain number of spaces for contract agreements and/or to meet grant-designated outcomes.
For specific information regarding the SON selection criteria, please see the SON Enrollment Policy and Procedure Manual.
If an applicant is not offered a space in the program, a new application is necessary for the following semester. The School of Nursing has no waitlist.
What Happens After Submitting My Application?
After you have attended the Pre-Nursing Workshop and submitted a fully completed application (including documentation) by the due dates, you will:
- Once the application is submitted, you will be notified of receipt.
- Petitioning Students - VN students petitioning for readmission must complete a VN Application and Petition for Readmission before being considered for readmission. Applications and Petitions for Readmission must be submitted to the Nursing Enrollment and Evaluation Specialist. Students will be readmitted according to the Prioritization for Readmission policy and space availability.
- Notification of Acceptance/Alternate/Denial - VN program applicants will be notified within 3 - 5 months after the application period.

Riverside Community College District Scholarship
There are over 250 scholarships available to students through the RCCD Foundation, and only one application is needed to apply. If you are an admitted student at RCC and have a student email address, you can apply for scholarships offered by the RCCD Foundation.
CGACC-RCC International Student Scholarship
International Students at Riverside City College are welcome to apply for CGACC-RCC Scholarship. This scholarship is in the form of a tuition fee reduction estimated at $1,250. The application deadline for CGACC-RCC International Student Scholarship is July 25, and the results of the students selected are typically announced by August 6.
To be eligible for this award, the applicant must be a new or continuing international student who will study full-time at one of the RCCD colleges (Riverside City College, Norco College, or Moreno Valley College) on an F-1 Student Visa in the fall semester. Transfer students can also apply. New international students who apply for the scholarship must have a completed RCC international student application, submit all required documents, and receive an RCCD I-20.

Program Outcome
Upon completion of the Licensed Vocational Nursing Program, the graduate will:
- Provide quality, safe, patient-centered basic nursing care using evidence-based practices, as a competent, entry-level vocational nurse, under the direct supervision of a licensed physician or registered nurse.
- Function as a competent entry-level vocational nurse accepting accountability and responsibility for the ethical and legal principles defined in the vocational nursing code of ethics and practice activities.
- Function as a leader, assimilating leadership principles in a variety of health care settings for diverse patient populations as a competent, entry-level vocational nurse.
- Exemplify caring through behaviors that support relationship-centered care and demonstrate respect and sensitivity to others as a competent, entry-level vocational nurse.
- Assimilate collaborative relationships through communication with the interprofessional health care team to provide and improve patient outcomes as a competent, entry-level vocational nurse.
- Assimilate critical thinking principles using clinical reasoning to make sound clinical judgments necessary for providing safe patient care and contributing to quality improvement as a competent, entry-level vocational nurse.
