The programme is designed to develop students’ know-how in nursing, enabling them to provide safe and competent care in various healthcare settings. e course combines theoretical learning in classrooms and practical training in simulation wards and skills lab. [+]

The programme is designed to develop students’ know-how in nursing, enabling them to provide safe and competent care in various healthcare settings. The course combines theoretical learning in classrooms and practical training in simulation wards and skills lab. In addition, students will be required to attend practical placements in participating local hospitals. e strong emphasis on nursing knowledge and hands-on training ensures graduates’ competency as Registered Nurses as well as giving them the advantage in the graduate marketplace. The curriculum for the Diploma in Nursing programme is based on the national requirements of the Malaysia Nursing Board and is fully approved. A feature of the programme is that it gives the student a wide variety of experience in the dierent elds of nursing. By the end of the programme, the student will be able to decide what particular area he or she wishes to join. To assist in career prospects, IASM arranges placements for successful candidates to guarantee a place in the healthcare services, either in the government or the private sector. Entry Requirements LOCAL Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with 5 credits Credit in Mathematics Credit in Bahasa Malaysia Credit in Science (General Science / Pure Science - Biology / Chemistry / Physics) 2 other subjects AND a Pass in: English FOREIGN CANDIDATE / MALAYSIAN STUDYING ABROAD O-Level or equivalent to SPM with 5 credits Credit in Mathematics Credit in Science (General Science / Pure Science - Biology / Chemistry / Physics) 3 other subjects AND Proficiency in English (Required for those whose medium of instruction is not in English Language) Pass International English Language Testing Services (IELTS) with a minimum of 5.5; OR Test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL) with a minimum of 550; OR Pass in English (O-Level or equivalent to SPM 1119); OR Pass equivalent intensive English course conducted by IASM / KUL HEALTH STATUS Students must be certified medically fit by a registered medical practitioner recognized by the recruiting institution. Students with following medical conditions, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B or C, any mental health disorders, Epilepsy, and other chronic diseases cannot be admitted into the programme.
