AUA was founded in 2004 with the mission of addressing the growing physician shortage in the United States. AUA College of Medicine graduates are eligible for residency training positions throughout the nation. AUA College of Medicine has been approved by the New York State Education Department and recognized by the Medical Board of California*, allowing students to obtain residency positions and secure clinical clerkships in those states. AUA is one of the select international medical schools whose students are eligible for over 12 weeks of clerkships in New York, and whose graduates are eligible for the 20% of residency training positions located there. *Students must complete their Basic Sciences studies at the AUA Campus in Antigua or if transferring from another institution to AUA, that university must be recognized by the Medical Board of California in order to be eligible for clinical rotations, residency placements and medical licensure in the State of California. AUA students who matriculate the Basic Sciences studies at the Kasturba Medical College International Center (KMCIC) are not eligible.
