Our pre-nursing internship programs
Gaining meaningful experience is always a good thing, especially when it comes to a career in nursing. We offer structured pre-nursing programs that pair you with skilled nurses in dynamic hospital environments. Along with global health tutorials, our placements will also give you excellent experience to draw upon when taking the next step in your nursing career.
To get you a front-row seat to the action, we select talented mentors from our partner hospitals that are committed to developing your clinical skills. During your time at the hospital, you will get the opportunity to work and learn about a variety of specialist departments, from outpatient to obstetrics and gynecology.

Your personal nursing mentor
Your personal mentor is there to share their skills while offering you insight into hospital life. They will immediately involve you in all practical aspects of patient care as you observe procedures and learn about interesting cases and conditions.
NURSING MENTOR: Nurse Sweet
A key nursing mentor at the busy Iringa Regional Hospital, Nurse Sweet has her finger on the pulse!
Professional and friendly, Nurse Sweet works in the pediatrics department and splits her time over three different wards. As your mentor, your day will typically start with the morning report (sometimes in Swahili but she'll translate), followed by an in-depth briefing on the patients you will be seeing that day. Due to Nurse Sweet’s extensive expertise in different areas of nursing, she is sometimes called away to deal with emergencies in other departments. If she is your mentor, ask to go with her - it can be very interesting to see the flexibility in her working style and diversity of her experience!
Your Placement Coordinator
Your dedicated and helpful Placement Coordinator will make sure you get from A to B during your time at the hospital. Highly organized and purely focused on your placement experience, they will work closely with mentors to ensure you finish each day with a smile on your face.
Placement coordinator: CLARENCE MKALAZI
A Morogoro native, Clarence knows the region’s hospitals like the back of his hand. As an experienced Placement Coordinator, he is fully equipped to provide you with all the support you need during your time at the hospital. In fact, he’ll even provide you with an in-depth briefing on what to expect before you’ve even stepped through the hospital doors!
Once your pre-nursing placement has commenced, he will introduce you to your mentor, keep a close eye on your progress and provide hands-on support when needed. Clarence is a familiar face around our partner hospitals and will be there every day to assist you with any questions you may have.
