Your personal midwifery mentor

Your personal mentor is there to inspire you (and sometimes quiz you!) during your time at the hospital. Supportive, attentive, and enthusiastic, they will take you behind the scenes and teach you about clinical procedures, cases, and patient care. They will also answer all your questions!

MIDWIFE MENTOR: Nurse Yaowarat Dustikul

Nurse Yaowarat Dustiku works in the obstetrics ward at Buddhachinaraj Hospital in Phitsanulok, Thailand.

In charge of the labor room for the last 15 years, Nurse Dustiku is a wealth of nursing and midwifery experience. With Nurse Dustiku as your mentor, you may see everything from natural births to C-sections. You will also get experience on how to undertake general—but very important—tasks such as cleaning and sterilizing equipment for injection control. And to round it off, during your placement you may even learn how to weigh, clean, and wrap babies. Nurse Dustiku loves to teach and mentor students, so don’t feel shy about asking as many questions as you’d like!

Your Placement Coordinator

Supportive, helpful, and approachable, your Placement Coordinator will be on hand to make sure your time at the hospital is enjoyable and memorable. They have excellent relationships with all our mentors and an impressive knack for knowing the answers to ALL your questions (usually before you ask them!).

Placement coordinator: LUCK JOMPITAK

Wilaluck (better known as Luck) is our friendly Placement Coordinator in Phitsanulok. As your pre-midwifery placement go-to person, Luck will assist you with anything and everything you need, from accompanying you to the hospital on your first day to helping you find the cafeteria!

Luck likes you to be prepared, so she will brief you on what to expect at the hospital upon arriving in the country. To ease you into placement life, she’ll introduce you to your mentors, monitor your progress daily and answer any questions you may have. When she is not providing expert assistance, Luck is working closely with hospital mentors to ensure your placement progresses smoothly.
