Like a doctoral candidate, you will have the status of TU/e employee if you are selected for one of these programs. The programs start with a year of advanced education, followed by a major design project of eight to twelve months in a company. The designer's programs lead to a Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng degree). These programs are given under the banner of 3TU.School for Technological Design, Stan Ackermans Institute, a joint initiative of the three universities of technology in the Netherlands. The program is also part of the School of Medical Physics and Engineering Eindhoven (SMPE/e; www.smpee.nl). The aim of the doctoral program is to prepare experienced scientists with a view to conduct cutting-edge research, to propose innovative research and practical workable solutions and achieve leadership positions in the exercise area and physical education and the wider sports industry. The program directs students to use the most modern methods of multidisciplinary research into the production and application of knowledge in theoretical and practical level. It is designed to provide students the opportunity to pursue doctoral studies in areas that will increase our knowledge of human movement, develop theories and methods for maintaining health and improving knowledge for more effective implementation of physical education in education. The program is designed so as to enable development to students in areas of particular interest, having a background knowledge and / or experience in exercise science and physical education. Special features of the program are: 1. The development, testing and implementation of theories about human movement and exercise. 2. The development, testing and application of theories to maintain and improve human health and performance. 3. The resolution of any problems of motion of the exercise and performance through an interdisciplinary approach. 4. Duration of the study In accordance with the Act and the Statute, as well as with the recommendations of the Rector's Conference, the full-time Postgraduate Doctoral Study of Biomedicine and Health lasts for at least 3 years or 6 semesters, while the part-time study generally lasts at least 5 years or 10 semesters. Total number of ECTS credits in the study program is 180 ECTS credits. [+]

PhD Degrees 2017. Academic title acquired upon completion of the study Upon completion of the study, one acquires the academic title of Doctor of Science in the field of Biomedicine and Health and in relevant scientific fields. The study is organized in two forms: - Full-time study (for assistants and junior researchers employed in the science and higher education system); - Part-time study (doctoral candidates employed outside the science and higher education system). Competencies students acquire upon completion of the study Knowledge, understanding and skills: - Demonstrating of systematic knowledge, understanding and mastering of contemporary methodology, techniques and skills specific for the scientific discipline of biomedicine and health, the field and branch in which one is active; - Demonstrating creativity and originality in interpretation of knowledge in the scientific discipline of biomedicine and health, the field and branch in which one is active. Application of knowledge and understanding: - Ability to conduct research and apply skills for the creation of new concepts, hypotheses and projects that will generate new knowledge and/or result in its implementation in the discipline of biomedicine and health, field and branch in which one is active; - Ability to apply knowledge, understanding and research in order to contribute to the overall body of knowledge, which is verified by publishing in reputable national and international publications in the discipline in which one is active.
