Qualification requirements and regulations
The following may apply for the Doctoral Programme in Physical Education and Sport: a) The holders of a masters degree or a legal equivalent; b) The holders of a B.A. who present an especially relevant academic or scientific which is acknowledge by the Scientific Council of the Lusophone University of Humanities and Technologies Physical Education and Sports Faculty as being a competence certificate. b) The holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum which is acknowledged by the Scientific Council of the Lusophone University of Humanities and Technologies Physical Education and Sports Faculty as being a competence certificate.
The main goal of the of study programme leading to the degree of Doctor of Physical Education and Sport is the production of knowledge by conducting original research in this area, through a multi-paradigmatic perspective and methodology, focusing on a global and integrated vision of the Physical Education and Sport Sciences. The total workload of the course would amount to 3 years full time. A Doctor of Physical Education and Sport should still be able to communicate with their peers and with society in general about their area of expertise, and to promote in academic and professional contexts, scientific, social and cultural progresses in a society based on knowledge.
Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired
With the award of the degree of Doctor of Physical Education and sport, students must: To demonstrate a systematic knowledge in one specialty of the Doctorate programme in Physical Education and Sport (Teaching of Physical Education and Sport or Physical Activity and Health ") and master models, methodologies and research techniques associated with this area of knowledge and to their specialties;
To display the ability to conceive, design and deliver a significant and innovative research in Physical Education and Sport; To contribute, through original research, to expand the frontiers of the knowledge in Physical Education and Sport, which is recognized by the publication of research outputs in international journals with referees;
To show competences that could enable their integration in different professional or academic contexts as promoters and holders of high specialization.
