University of Stirling

MSc in Sport Nutrition

This upgrade to MSc course has been established specifically for students who already hold an International Olympic Committee (IOC) postgraduate diploma in Sports Nutrition.

Course objectives

The course provides high quality research training through planning, conducting and writing up a research project enabling those working in the field of Sport Nutrition to undertake, understand and inform others about research in their chosen area of study.

Structure and content

Students are required to conduct a novel research project and write up a research report (dissertation) of 5,000-7,000 words in the form of a scientific journal paper.

The topic of research must be approved in advance by the School. For full-time candidates the project reports must be submitted within six months of entry onto the course. For part-time candidates these must be submitted within 12 months from date of entry onto the course.

The examiners may allow a research project which is deemed to be unsatisfactory to be revised and submitted for re-assessment within a specified time period.

A grade will be awarded for the research project written report. A grade will also be assigned to an oral presentation of the research upon submission of the project report. A question and answer examination with the external examiner will be required for all candidates.
