The objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare physical activity and lifestyle specialists on the grounds of international level achievements in applied science and technology who would be able to: apply the principles of educational consulting and health promoting physical activity; ensure help in changing lifestyle and identity on the first, second and third prevention levels; work in sanatoriums as healthy lifestyle educators (trainers) as well as in business sector (enterprises and institutions), sports, fitness, spa and beauty centers.
Programme graduates will be able to:
Understand the biomedical mechanisms of physical activity; test and assess physical condition and fitness; assess physical activity of an individual or a group.
Identify the risks to physical activity, understand the basic principles of physical load allocation and control for people of various age and state of health.
Identify the type of personality, the phase of group readiness to change, apply effectively theoretical models of behavior change through intervention programmes for individuals and groups.
Apply physical load allocation principles for people of various age and state of health.
Effectively motivate individuals or groups in physical activity, identify their needs and provide advice on issues of physical activity.
Create and control health promoting physical activity programme on the basis of testing results.
Make multifunctional decisions and cooperate with employers while developing health promoting physical activity projects and health promoting projects for different organizations.
Manage the organization process of individual and group exercises, develop health education lesson (programme) plan, instruct verbally and visually.
Prepare, conduct and evaluate individual and group exercises as well as various health workouts through innovative technology solutions.
Apply valid methods and instruments for testing an individual or group exercise capacity, physical activity, lifestyle, etc.
Ensure the safety of the clients during the consultation and physical activity exercise.
Apply the basic principles of biomedical and social research ethics.
Apply the strategy of links between physical education, school sport and athletic club (PESSCL).
Develop and maintain professional relationship with the client; identify the steps of client behavior change and monitor it.
Understand health promotion and strengthening theories, and key theoretical approaches.
Develop strategic plans, create a vision and a mission, start business and effectively manage it.
Demonstrate personal leadership, manage team to achieve common goals, use situational leadership style, think and act in a win-win situation for synergic value, inspire and motivate team members, be empathic in individual and group activity process, be ethical.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Innovative teaching and learning methods are applied in pursuance of active participation of students in a study process: engaging lecture, watching films, brainstorming, group discussion, debates, problem-based teaching, individual preparation of analytical papers, essay, slide show, project work, group and individual training, monitoring, etc.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Oral questioning, written quiz, test, preparation of a diary, project work, case study, literature review, preparation of a new model, demonstration, portfolio method, report, slide show, assessment of practical skills, examination.
