PHSSN is the only intercollegiate program in the nation that serves two private universities and has become a model for other programs seeking to efficiently provide a high-quality professional program in nursing. At Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing, you will learn the art, science and spirit of this honorable profession. You will complete your core courses at one of our two consortium universities, then apply for admission to and train at PHSSN for your rewarding career as a nurse. As a member of the PHSSN family, you will be in a cohort of students from Hardin-Simmons and McMurry universities who have completed two years of general education requirements, and have been accepted into our nursing program to complete the final two years of nursing education. Both cumulative grade point average (GPA) and nursing prerequisite GPA must be a minimum of a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale Completion of all nursing prerequisite courses with a letter grade of ‘C’ or higher (Letter grade of less than ‘C’ will not be accepted toward Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree) Course Exception: Pathophysiology must have a grade of an ‘A’ or ‘B’ Minimum overall score of 75% on the HESI A2 Entrance Exam including Critical Thinking Completion of General Education and Prerequisite coursework before entering first semester at PHSSN Because PHSSN is a competitive entry program, class size will be determined by the quality of applicants and the availability of space and clinical facilities.
