The main reason for implementation of this kind of study programme was the tendency to establish a compatible educational programme with countries of the European Union, which will contribute to implementation of a new conception of nursing care oriented at active individual care in hospital practice. In primary care it will contribute to a healthy life style of the population and diseases prevention. The content of the curricula was set up to get students familiarised with all the knowledge and skills, which are necessary for providing the profession of a general nurse, who is responsible for general nursing care. The output knowledge and skills which are obtained by students during the study are in accordance with basic competence criteria, which are defined in documents of the European Commission. These competences cover: care for children, youth, adults and seniors with acute and chronic health disorders and somatic and psychological difficulties. It also includes inpatients and outpatients. Then nurses will learn how to keep, protect and support the health of individuals and groups; their independence and self-sufficiency in the sphere of physical and mental life functions with regard to psychological, social, economic and cultural differences of the way of life of disabled people. The length of professional preparation is 3 years and the number of preparation hours is 4600, from which 2300 hours are the practical part of tuition. In individual semesters the theoretical and practical blocks can change. The content of study originates from the tuition about health, healthy individuals and its relation to social surroundings. Nursing is focused on the independent work of the nurse in prevention, in care for the development of patient/client self-sufficiency and in providing the individual care through the method of nursing process.
Practical tuition is performed in establishments of primary care and in clinical workplaces, which are chosen on the basis of defined standards. The practical training – 1st year is oriented on the sphere of primary care, i.e. on health support and prevention of illness origin. Students will get acquainted with the structure of primary care services and with individual types of establishments in the frame of primary care. They will learn to assess the environment (material and social), in which people live, the risks for their health. Then they will get acquainted with the kinds of illnesses which are present in the environment, with the need of preventive measures and methods of individual and group health education. They will learn to assess the health condition and the needs of clients in terms of nursing care. In the other years of study the practical training is oriented on the sphere of secondary and tertiary care and is focused on specialities of the nursing process with clients at individual clinical departments. It is focused on the elaboration of an individual plan of nursing care with given clients. In this part, students will learn to perform care in households through the method of nursing process.
The subjects which are in the curricula are divided into three groups: compulsory, facultative compulsory and elective. Students can choose from a list of facultative compulsory course units in accordance with their own interests and focus; however they must respect the relevant number of set credits, which they must obtain during the study of these groups of subjects. During the three-year study period, students must obtain 180 ECTS, from which 144 ECTS are compulsory course units, 18 ECTS are facultative compulsory course units and 18 ECTS are elective course units.
After accomplishing all of the commitments which are given in the study plan of curricula, i.e. successful completion of all subjects and obtaining the set amount of ECTS, student can sit the state final examination, where the student defends his/her bachelor thesis. After successful passing of the state final examination students will be awarded a diploma, which will be handed to him/her during the graduation ceremony. Students will also be given a Diploma Supplement, which will be attached to the University Diploma for the purpose of providing sufficient and independent information about the study courses with the aim to improve international transparency and to guarantee credible academic and profession approval of qualifications.
Graduates will be able to use the qualification to obtain work in outpatient and inpatient medical facilities. They will have the theoretical and practical qualification for management of a nursing team, private practice or for management of nursing agencies.
The Faculty of Health and Social Studies offers a selected study course in English for a tuition fee of 1 100 EUR per semester.
It covers all instruction (lectures, seminars,clinical trainingand tutorials); certain necessary texts and entitles students to use all faculty facilities including the library and a modern computer lab. The fee does not cover accommodation and meals. Other expenses not covered by the fee include a residence permit, and payments necessary for the translation and official recognition of secondary school certificates.
Please note that the tuition fees are revised annually and all fees are subject to change. The cost basis is set annually by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Czech Republic.

Essay on the topic "Nurse as a Profession" in the range of 7500 characters (with spaces),
Certified copy of your passport and birth certificate,
Certified copy of a secondary school diploma or other official document confirming the completion of secondary school,
Certificate of Recognition of a foreign certificate in the Czech Republic or the Decision on Recognition of foreign certificates in the Czech Republic (the validation clause), always according to the laws of the Czech Republic,
Certified copy of the passed language examination at the following level: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - 560 points or IELTS (International Language Testing System) - 6.5 points, or confirmation on test like: FCE (First Certificate in English), CAE (Certificate in Advanced English), CPE (Certificate in Proficiency English) or Communicator or Expert (City and Guilds examination); in case the applicants for whom English is an official language of the state of which they are nationals, the Dean of the Faculty can decide to waive this requirement, or to verify English language proficiency by setting up a English language test processed at the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice (in case of the Dean’s decision on the applicant’s obligatory obeisance of the test of the English language, this test becomes a part of the admission procedure),
Confirmation from a general practicioner on health condition.
Applicants who have submitted all the required materials will be included in the admission process. Within the admission procedures evaluation of all the materials sent will be performed by the committee appointed by the Dean of the Faculty. The applicant may gain a maximum of 100 points (20 points of the cover letter, 30 points of the essay and 50 points of the test on knowledge prerequisites). In case of the applicants who have been determined by the Dean to the obligatory obeisance of the test of the English language, the test will be a part of the admission procedures.
The evaluation and admission committee will rank the candidates proposed for admission. The Dean of the faculty has the final decision on the acceptance of an applicant based on the recommendation of the admission committee within 8 days after the admission and the applicants are informed in writing within 30 days on the outcome according to §50 paragraph 5 of the Act on Higher Education.
The instructions concerning the payment of the tuition fee for the first semester will be given to applicants together with the decision about his/her acceptance.
Study in the study course in the academic year 2015/2016 will be opened only in the case when at least a minimum of 10 applicants shall enrol and shall be accepted for the study. In other cases the study course will not be opened.
Applicants have the right to appeal against the decision to the Dean of the faculty. The completed appeal forms must be submitted within 30 days from the date of its delivery. The Dean can grant an application and change her decision; otherwise she will pass it on to the Rector. The Rector can change the decision of the Dean which was issued contrary to law, internal rules of university or with the conditions defined in accordance with § 49, section 1 a 3 of the Act. Nr. 111/98 Coll. Otherwise he will reject the request and he will confirm the original resolution of the Dean.
