Starting academic year 2015-2016, the Institute for Sports Studies offers a three-year bachelor's programme in English; Sports, Health and Management. Emphasis within this bachelor lies on skills in the following areas:
- Managing Lifestyle in organizations and society
- Healthy Enhancing Physical Activity
- Changing Behaviour
- Policy & Entrepreneurship
The first year of the program consists of a basic program ( the first half year) and Managing Lifestyle in organizations and society (second half year). The second year focuses on Health Enhancing Physical Activity and Changing Behaviour. In the 3rd and final year of the bachelor you will develop yourself in Policy & Entrepreneurship and carry out your own individual research and final project (graduation project).
The course offers room for internship and there is ample attention to both the national as well as the international market for the sports professional. An (international) internship is an important part of the bachelor.
Other key features of the program are:
a) the possibility to study abroad,
b) a personal coach,
c) training to gain practical experience,
d) good facilities
The 3-year Bachelor Sports and Health Management is offered to students who have obtained their secondary school (A-levels or equivalent) degree.
Potential students are invited to a 'Matching Day' after their registration. Participation in this matching day is mandatory. On this day we examine whether the student has made the right choice for this bachelor and has the motivation to attend and finish the course. Possible Masters
The Bachelor Sports, Management and Health fits well with the one-year Master Healty Ageing, which is currently under development at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences. With the combination of the 3-year Bachelor's and a one-year Master, it becomes possible for students to get their master's degree within four years.
The option also exists to follow a semester 'Nutrition' after the three-year bachelor. During this module, the student is entitled to the international certificate of the European Consortium Physical Active Lifestyle (PAL).
