The health of populations is a persistent and imperative global concern. China currently faces significant population health challenges and opportunities that range from a rapidly growing ageing population to rapid urbanisation, changing patterns of disease, sustainable development and environmental health, disaster management and health care financing & health reform. Public health professionals are essential for improving the health and well- being of populations.
WHAT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS WILL I ACQUIRE?
Public health is a broad endeavor. On completion of the course, graduates will possess general skills in the investigation of health issues affecting populations such as epidemiology and biostatistics; achieve an understanding of the management of interventions designed to improve health and well-being such as health policy reform and gain practical, first-hand experience in the activities relevant to public health such as fieldwork and data analysis.

The BSc programme in Public Health at XJTLU prepares students to meet current and future population health issues within China and beyond. Graduates acquire the thorough practical and theoretical foundations necessary for employment in such domestic and international contexts as governmental agencies, private health care companies and non-governmental health care organisations both here and abroad. Our students are provided with the skills to pursue postgraduate studies in Public Health and other areas of the Health Sciences.
WHY SHOULD I STUDY PUBLIC HEALTH AT XJTLU?
The XJTLU BSc Public Health is one of the most comprehensive undergraduate public health degrees in the world. Students receive training in both the biological sciences and social sciences in comparative measure. Students are exposed to real world problems affecting China, with special emphasis on health issues of global concern. Students are taught by experienced international staff with strong links to international agencies such as the World Health Organization.
