Biomedical Scientists work in a dynamic profession with long term career prospects in the specialised laboratory disciplines such medical microbiology, clinical biochemistry and histopathology, in addition to non laboratory-based including management, research and education. Biomedical Science offers an opportunity to put scientific knowledge into practical use and to perform key roles within within the healthcare industry.

In addition to biological and biochemical principles, you focus on topics such as as infectious disease, immunology, physiology, pharmacology, haematology and transfusion science. The programme offers 4-year Sandwich Year or Year Abroad variants, and there are opportunities to undertake a summer research studentship at the end of the second year. If you choose the professionally-accredited route you will have additional compulsory modules to provide the skills required for State Registration within the National Health Service.

Admission Requirements

ABB at A level including grade B in biology; IB 34 points (15 at Higher), plus GCSE Maths at Grade C or above
